Merritt’s practice focuses on business law, civil litigation, criminal law, and family law. Merritt graduated in 1994 from Vassar College with a degree in Art History. Following a career in outdoor education with Outward Bound, Merritt received his Masters in Public Policy and Management from the Muskie School of Public Service, magna cum laude, in 2002. Merritt attended law school at the University of Maine School of Law where he was an editor of the Maine Law Review, graduating cum laude in 2005.
After opening a solo law practice, Merritt chose to join MittelAsen for its creative and client-centered approach to the practice of law. A native resident of Portland, and a father of two, Merritt is an accomplished sailor and outdoorsman
