Peter’s practice concentrates primarily in the areas of alternative dispute resolution, bankruptcy, business law, and civil litigation and education law. He has been with the firm since 1988. Peter graduated in 1982 from the University of Massachusetts (cum laude) with a degree in History and a minor in Economics. While at University of Massachusetts he was admitted into the honorary society Phi Beta Kappa. He attended law school at Boston College Law School from which he graduated with honors in 1987. He was admitted to the Maine bar in 1987 and the Massachusetts bar the following year. , and is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of Maine, the United States District Court for the District of Maine, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maine, the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Cary is a member of the Cumberland Bar Association (Secretary/Treasurer, 1997-1999; First Vice President, 1999-2000; President, 2000-2001), the Maine State Bar Association (Alternative Dispute Resolution Section), the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Cape Elizabeth Education Foundation (past-Co-President). Mr. Cary recently completed a multi-year term as a Commissioner of the Maine Government Facilities Authority. He is a frequent lecturer at the Maine State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education seminars.
